Been thinking recently that maybe a new wizard position could open up? perhaps most people aren't that interested in coding, but they could work with a set of tools perhaps to become "DM's" (dungeonmasters) for a time? and run (and maybe participate) in small controlled events. Something ...

Keep the ideas coming - if I see a really terrific one I'll implement it with my very little spare time.

Also, there's no reason a dev-wizard (or a team of them) couldn't code an event and get it put in game either.

Re: Quests?

Let me explain. Before my time (thus i dont remember exactly) there was a great assault on the City of Vaerlon by the evil earthpriest (NPC's) and their minions (NPC's). Some of those earthpriests caried some _unique_ items that players still posess. That Assault also originated the martial law in ...

Re: old idea

Ok...this is an old idea of mine. What if a player that owns a mount and has a rented stable could pay a certain sum like we pay for the stable or locker and ensure that before each boot the stablemasters servants (stableworkers) search for the mount if the player is idle for a certain time or offl...

While we're talking about delims, here's another free tip: Prepending '@' to the command bypasses most of the command preprocessing, thus you can say/tell/whatever things that contain nicknames, command delimiters and such without those getting in the way. For example, if I have "nickname foo k...

Re: New Area

That post would be really useful if I knew where either Shanty town or Highhill were. Since I gather that a map with the names on comes under the 'sharing information' rules, why bother to use the names in such a post? So that people who have explored the world already can find the new area without...

Re: A few ideas.

2. Currently, if you make a typo in the target of your spell, the spell finishes but doesn't cast at a monster. Would it be possible to check for the spell target before you are allowed to cast (instead of having to wait for the timer to reach 0)? My spells fail enough without me having to worry ab...

If you could descibe the problem more exactly than maybe we could help you come up with a solution? The basic problem is, the data is in the mud-driver and it needs to get to the webserver, which is running in a separate process. The old superkludge solution was a minimal quickhack "webserver&...

The biggest reason for the removal is that they were "quite the kludge" to put mildly. Maybe someday someone will come up with a way that is less of a kludge and they will be reimplemented, but that day is not in the foreseeable future at the moment.

Note that some of these changes require slightly more coding skills than simple area coding, however I think any intelligent person with will to learn would be able to handle the coding. (Asking for help in case of difficulties is not forbidden either, actually it's encouraged, preferably on our cod...

Very reasonable ideas, some even really good, however there's a slight resource problem: No one is maintaining the code in question, as the wizard who wrote it is no longer around (assuming we're talking about the same thing). This would probably make a good project for a dev-wizard or a new full wi...

Actually, I'll take the "will not" partially back. It could be done given enough resources, but the more important question here is, do you really need to carry more stuff around than you can carry? The whole gaming experience is choices and compromises, and one of them is your carrying ca...

Re: Room cleanup

I'm not sure if many people are bothered by this, but since the cleanup code was introduced/tweaked? i've gotten a little paranoid about dropping my sack or other stuff on the floor if i can't carry it, or meat for mounts if i need to leave the mount for a time. Was wondering if it could be made so...

Re: A message would be nifty

1. Replace it with a random line from a collection of ubiquitous gotcha! lines. 2. Perhaps you could get the blocking line from step 1 and add an "as you try to sneak by" prefix to it. If you'd have read what I posted earlier you'd know why option 2 does not work. And random message isn't...
