odds and ends

From what I've understood, your wraith - while requiring more exp to level up than a wight - takes a larger share of the exp made, so it might in fact level faster than the wight, since it yields a better party rate as well due to its higher offensive capability. And thus, it will raise your mastery...

The biggest issue at the moment is that of low number of active wizards, but even so things progress once in a while, like opening of fire_priests some time ago. If people were to vote for Icesus more actively, we would attract new players, some of who might become the great coders of the future. De...

Let's smoke this shit!

I totally agree with Nihil. (Except for the use of it's as its, bashity bash!) Of course, ismokeob can only have one effect that enchants it at the same time (or she's gonna blow! *crash*). So it's either or... or something. Would make incense censer 'useful to other guild' as well. Just consider th...

Healing pool for healers

There used to be a time when air_priests could gain some experience points by healing other players. How about bringing that back? Might nudge some of the players into reincing into a healer - they, especially the good ones, are in short supply as fire_priests opened and attracted a huge number of p...

Pen is, ok?

Aye, feedback is always useful. It can be triggered to maybe form some sort of chart. So this mastery rose from X to Y in 436346 maneuvers etc. That's part of the fun, I guess, to try to figure things out. Now that we're at this topic, I would like to point out that simple <learning> at halfway poin...

Pretty sure there was an unscheduled crash, or something. Seems like people got those always warm and fuzzy 'Ah-ha, you need a crash recovery!' messages upon login, and even my character found himself in Vilbor's inn.

It would definitely rule to make it possible to stop moving silently while one is in combat (if I recall, it didn't allow it during combat). And toggling between sneak and normal movement mode should be instantaneous, no one second delay or anything, imho. :)

Shard of nullification

Maybe a shard that completely removes all magical properties from an item would be cool. Might be useful on stuff with decent base prot and quality, nonstandard slot usage / not so high stats, like ratling bracer. The nullified eq could then be (re-)enchanted with shards/orb, possibly making it bett...

traps

Traps were indeed really nice back in 2001, even without ambush or masteries. You could make like 6 pit traps even with 0 skill and you would get alerted when one of them attracts a mob. They would last for a fortnight if you were lucky and trap check was doable even if the mob was still in the trap...

Re: woundstuff

Stuff about wounds If I were to tune wounds, here's what I would possibly consider doing: Have wounds, in addition to normal tick damage: a) Lessen monster's general natural armour somewhat correlating to wound amount and severity: One minor wound = 1 point, two fatals = 10 points etc. This would b...

So, an infinite number of mathematicians go into a bar...

Or ask anyone to pkill you to get the alcohol out of your system.
Killing yourself also helps, so drowning into the lake can solve it for you.

And yes, these methods only seem to work in the game, not outside it. :P

Newbie Guide - Melee 101

This introductory howto sums up melee in Icesus. It may not contain guild specific aspects of melee, such as sorcerer's 'pain threshold' or ranger/gaesati 'melee massacre', but it should explain the system for a newcomer to the game, revealing aspects of melee that are available at the beginning. Ha...
