Slings are now possible to make with leatherworking. They act as ranged weapons, something between throwing weapons and shooting with bows. Naturally you need also some bullets to throw and an ammo pouch where to store the bullets. Ammo pouches can be also made with leatherworking and their size differs somewhat according to the skills of the leatherworker.
There are several commands related to slinging; Sling command is the basic command used to sling bullets with your sling. Gather command allows you to collect stones from outside into your ammo pouch. Currently there is no way to empty your ammo pouch except by slinging them away but there isn't any special bullets either yet so emptying it to make room for them is not necessary at the moment either.
