Understanding Alert System

Post by vinicius »

The alert system maybe confusing to some. This is how I understand it to work.

To receive notification of an area spell being cast somewhere you need to: channel join alert

To set your variable to alert others that you are casting an area spell you need to: set alert yes

To set your variable to see an alert when you are casting an area spell you need to: set alert on

I understand that you can just set your alert variable to 'yes' , but don't have to be listening to the alert channel to be able to warn others, but not see yours or anybody else's warnings if you think the message system is too spammy.

I'd like to add a couple spells to the alert channel.

1.) Templar's rain of judgement when cast in an offensive manner.

2.) Whatever spell/skill sorcerers use to call offensive spirits. While not generally insta-kill for front row tanks, they can do quite a bit of damage. The situation is compounded for them because generally other area affect spells are cast by the same party. I got caught by a telekinetic wave that I otherwise wouldn't have gotten hit by because I was waiting to flee from the spirit.
