New ranger sub teaser

Post by zaltaiz »

A bit info on the coming ranger sub. Eta: some things quite soon, some might take a bit of time.

Reivers of Grahm

Like all monasteries have their martial wing, so does rangers. Rather than focusing on maintaining the harmony of nature and of the elements, Reivers of Grahm are readied for retribution, for assault and for conquer, for the glory of their own elemental god They are the guild's best kept secret, and only the very best of rangers are allowed to join them.

The guild (probably) replaces 5 levels from current Protectors of Grahm.
The guild (probably) has mastery requirements which increase greatly for each level.

New abilities (some will evolve):

-- Pinpoint Precision --

Pinpoint precision involves the most accurate accuracy, allowing to hit the needlepoint-sized target if necessary, with both melee and ranged weapons. It greatly enhances your accuracy.

Ranged effect:
Increased accuracy with bows. (check) Increased chance to cause critical hits. (check)

Melee effect:
Increased accuracy with 'whirling blades' skill. Increased chance to cause critical with 'whirling blades' skill.

Passive effect:
Increased chance to block attacks.

-- Giant Killer --

The hardier the foe, the deadlier the ranger comes. It allows rangers to turn fear into fervor, and to turn the difference in size and might to their advance.

Ranged effect:
Increased damage against prestigious foes. (check) Increases damage for velocity hits (check) and critical hits against prestigious foes. (check)

Melee effect:
Increased 'whirling blades' skill damage against larger than average sized foes. Special attack against largest foes.

-- Souls Facet --

Even though the ranger's duty is to maintain the harmony, they too have one element above others that they revere. There is one imprint in your soul, one whisper in the deepest folds of your mind that makes you hold one element above the others. This ability allows you to furrow that aspect forward and imprint that into your combat.

Ranged effect:
Chance to trigger additional damage based on your element when aiming at target's 'mana'. Critical chance.

Melee effect:
Chance to trigger additional damage based on your element when using 'whirling blades' skill.

Passive effect:
Increased resistance against damage of your element.

-- Primordial Discord --

Primordiar discord is a bizarre ability. Drawn from the elemental forces of ages past, it breaks through all current elements into their core, and causes great havok at the essence of being. It is one of the ultimate abilities that rangers can possess, and only the selected few are able to harness it.

Ranged effect:
chance to trigger additional damage of the foe's least resistant damage type when Soul's facet triggers. Critical chance.

Melee effect:
chance to trigger additional damage of the foe's least resistant damage type when Soul's facet triggers.

Passive effect:
Increased resistance against damage.

-- Velocity --

Velocity is the ultimate ability. Speed of motion, and surpassing that, ability to anticipate motion or even thought of motion. It makes ranger a lot quicker in many aspects, deadlier and swifter like a true ranger should be. It makes ranger able to perform hots perfectly, allowing to maintain momentum much further than any other archer could and thus increase damage of projectiles by a great deal.

Ranged effect:
Increased shooting speed. (check) Increased reload speed. (check) Increased critical and special hit damage (check). New critical. (check) Reduces cost to endurance. (check)

Melee effect:
Increased 'whirling blades' maneuver speed. Increased 'whirling blades' critical and special damage. Reduces cost to endurance.

Passive effect:
(Unconfirmed)

Are you guys planning mastery subs for every guild? If yes, I have a few ideas for monk, though not much. basically a sub replacing the hand of gods and order of ever-yielding willow that gives you access to both styles and some access to ranged blasts that may change effect slightly based on what stance you use. I'd think that the mastery requirements would be at least 25% in both hand of gods and absolute aegis.
