Bardic Songs

Post by lemi »

Here could be a place to post ideas for bard songs.

"The Transformation" (or, never shapeshift near Ereldon)
[based on a true story]

/7Hanging out in Vaerlon, a Gaesati creature too,
I waited for a healer but instead I got a show,
Ereldon was quiet, not a healing breeze in sight,
and this man I thought was sleeping started howling with the night!/7

/7He hunched over like in pain and started clawing at the ground,
And during his transformation came the most peculiar sounds!
Then after it was over he looked around with eyes of red,
He lunged at Ereldon the sage and in a flash the beast was dead./7
"My doctor says that I have a malformed public-duty gland and a natural deficiency in moral fibre and that I am therefore excused from saving universes."

wow this is fun, mk.

"Ezekiel the Mule"
[also based on a true story, of a practical joke gone out of hand.. it has a happy ending though.. the "dark elf" (*Lemi tries to look innocent.) didn't know that the mule would eat the newbie, and after finding this out just moved the mule so the newbie could get in the cart, and let him stay in the cart till morning, so he could take off the circlet. then he fixed the newbie up with some decent newbie EQ and gave the circlet to someone more responsible than himself.]

/7A new adventurer in Icesus,
Was wanting some E.Q.,
He got much more than he wanted,
An adventure through and through;

A dark elf came to him in rags,
A silver circlet in his hand,
And he gave it to the stranger,
The newbie wore it on demand;

Upon placing it upon his head,
He was filled with so much spite,
He attacked the first person he saw,
And ran into the night;

Cast away from Vaerlon,
To the forests all alone,
He asked that someone bring him bread,
So to starve he was less prone;

He bit the hand that fed him,
And that's no way to make friends,
So then inside a nearby temple,
He woke feeling the bends;

The stranger that had cursed him,
Offered to lend a hand,
A mule and cart were parked outside,
An attempt to make ammends;

When he did exit this old temple,
Silver circlet on his head,
He fought the mule and didn't win,
and again, they found him dead./7

"Salmon Sickenes"

/7A pink fish tinged with yellow,
Had a talk with a fellow,
Who dizzily walked towards this way,
And this salmon he met with,
Although he felt sickened,
Said everything would be okay!

So here's to that fish,
May he never be dished,
And be part of some awful buffet,
For guiding us home,
From where ever we roam,
When the portals do lead us astray!/7

"The Bardic Anthem"

/7We're the life of the party and the music in the air,
We take the stage at social affairs,
Bards like to sing and bards like to drink,
We'll write songs about you in indelible ink,
So light up your pipes and your thick coffin nails,
Nothing's better for the mind than a tall glass of ale!!!

And if you happen to fall and entertain us all,
or get sick and make friends with the sink.
It'll be our little secret, and we won't say a word,
Till the morning when we put it in ink!!

So take that empty mug and get it refilled,
Chug it down, and sing along!!
You aren't wasted enough, if you can still,
lie on the floor without hanging on!!!/7

Edit: Changed spotlight to stage, but couldn't find another word for "sink" that rhymed with "ink".

I like your enthusiasm Lemi. All of your songs are _good_, but I have just one comment. Try working on the language. Much of your wording seems a bit modern and out of Icesus theme. Anyways that's just my opinion. =)

i'm not sure if this is allowed by the whole copyright thing, but wouldn's it be nice to have "blind guardian's" "the bard song"?

Tale of the warrior king

Post by hasphat »

once there was a child with helm
He became a king of eastern realm.
He always wanted peace to last
but all that had to be left in the past.

He rode his horse and swinged his sword
like no one seen before.
once he killed an orc he said
"Thy shall not kill anymore!".

When finally it was time to fight
He was always there with his knights.
Five thousand orcs were wasted that day
The king's life they had to pay.

He rode his horse and swinged his sword
like no one seen before.
once he killed an orc he said
"Thy shall not kill anymore!".

The Path of Blades

Post by solar »

I decided to give a try too. I call it 'The Path of Blades'. It might bear resemblance to something else, but that is unintentional:

There are cheers in the air, because the dragon is in pieces - lying still.
Let us gather 'round its hoard, to take our shares of glittering gold.
The beast lies dead, our blades bloodstained, power to be reckoned with we are.

Skin the corpse, collect the scales, let its meat be our feast - raw, since we
lack the cooking skills, we split the instruments of destruction between us,
magical loot food to souls of ours as we plan the campaign that is sure to follow.
Be ready, gory deeds us await.

We slay, maim, kill and murder
We hack, slash, cut and tear things asunder.
We fight and shall not falter
With death being our only friend.

Our deeds will remain, after we are gone - no more on this plane we are.
Bloodwar reigns upon us, the demons killing each other, 'round us - we in between,
free to kill, free to spill fiendish blood.

Mighty fiends cut in pieces, powerful demons bleeding and weeping. Their armies
tremble in front of our unrivaled might. We empty the topmost layers of Hell,
kick in the doorway to deeper still and then we step through.

We slay, maim, kill and murder
We hack, slash, cut and tear things asunder.
We fight and shall not falter
With death being our only friend.

Treading on the path of deceased mortals, white road on evil terrain dark and red.
We reach the palace built from bones of men, twisted and verily a ghastly den.
Limp, impaled, forms welcome us to enter. In front of us - a skull-like door.
We never knock, we again force our way in.

Leaving a trail of corpses in our wake, we reach the sinister throne of the Unmaker
itself. We ready ourselves for battle coming up, as the room brightens a surprise
was stored in for us. Our presumed target or whoever it was, was revealed to us.

We slay, maim, kill and murder
We hack, slash, cut and tear things asunder.
We fight and shall not falter
With death being our only friend.

The Sleep Song

"One hundred sheep crowding a fence,
One hundred sheep running around,
See one jump high and soon there will be ninety-nine sheep crowding the fence!"

"Ninety-nine sheep crowding a fence,
Ninety-nine sheep running around,
See one jump high and soon there will be ninety-eight sheep crowding the fence!"

"Ninety-eight sheep crowding a fence,
Ninety-eight sheep running around,
See one jump high and soon there will be ninety-seven sheep crowding the fence!"

Repeat chorus 2x

And there is one for regen:

"One hundred bottles of beer on the wall,
One hundred bottles of fun,
Drink one and soon there will be ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall"

"Ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall,
Ninety-nine bottles of fun,
Drink one and soon there will be ninety-eight bottles of beer on the wall!"

"Ninety-eight bottles of beer on the wall,
Ninety-eight bottles of fun,
Drink one and soon there will be ninety-seven bottles of beer on the wall!"

Repeat chorus 5x

This is almost all original stuff, I expect a ton of pdf coming soon.

- I have more, for whoever wants to hear it.

Also, I suggest the idea of customizing songs for bards, for even more exciting bardic compositions.

I think that the bards should just have songs that don't generally have words, but have an option to put words into the song, and if the words fit well enough, the bard might be able to get a permanent bonus to the particular song, maybe the song could become a choice that other bards can use as well, if the creator decides to publish.
