There's going to be some sort of an auction for yet-to-be-decided number of apartments in Vaerlon as soon as some minor features have been completed.
Some pointers, all of which are subject to change if required, below:

* All apartments contain one room in which you may leave the game
* Will most likely come pre-furnished with racks and chests. How many of each variety, the buyer may choose
* No access rights or customisable descriptions via commands in the game. Buyer may request additional keys for his/her friends or co-purchasers.
* In terms of mechanics, the apartment rooms are just like any other rooms in the game, meaning two things:
1) Each apartment has to be specifically made (or copy pasted, harhar) by a wizard.
2) As they aren't virtual rooms, any kind of customizations can be made. Just to give an example, if you "look at window" in the test apartment right now you'll get a view of the Vaerlon central square.
