Bard instruments

Post by dunn »

Bards idea for instrument.

Instrument ages based on how much unidle time bard has spent in the game, sort of how templar_guard duty stacks up for unidle minutes, or how compassion adds up for templars during parties. This could mirror how some instruments in real life are more sought after than others because of their antiquity, and also another aspect could be mirrored in the fame of the instrument based on how much the instrument has been played by the bard.

There could be different types, and instead of levelling up based on guild level, they would do so based on how much they have been played.. With an option to change instruments, and each having some sort of bonus to the song being played, such as coven races affect certain aspects. We should also have a general instrument, that is jack of all trades, if instrument acquisition ever becomes an issue.

We should add bagpipes and a sitar.

Logger Bards could use a saw as a musical instrument. Sounds really good playing Greensleaves (misspelled)

Chronomancer Bards should be able to use Haste and Slow to alter the tempo of their music. Perhaps it could also be cast on their instruments to speed up/slow down the aging process. Oh, and the Templar spell Tool of Hard Justice could be used to create new instruments - since it makes weapons larger the harder they're swung and all that. A bugle, when swung enough, could become an English horn!

Back to reality: We have spoons as a weapon type. Well, why not make them an instrument too?! Musical spoons!! You know...the poor man's instrument. And sterling silver spoons would age well, I'm thinking.

Alchemists could get a new trade: manufacturing special chemicals to "cure" or "treat" instruments so they'll age gracefully and be resistant to damage incurred by use. This would be like wood glazes, brass polish, etc.
