I think when animals regen, it should give out messages that they lick their wound close. Shapeshifters do it all the time! "When Gaesati assumes the form of an animal, he gains immense strength and other abilities of the animal but still has his own mental powers." (from the guild documentation of Icesus.org!) So if shifters are the copiers, then the animals should (naturally) have the instinct to lick their wounds to help themselves regen. It would be nice just to have the message added but not necessarily speeding up the regen of the animal.

Thing is, who regens next to the animal to see that feature happen? :)

Age old question, if a tree falls in the forest, does it really make a sound..

Wounded animals tend to attack anything if their species is 'ferocious'.

Use move silently. E. The chipmunk (wounded) does not notice you. ("THEN watch the regen with a cool soda. ... or just go hunting.)

OR we could just solve the problem altogether with - zoos! The animals of Icesus have never been so easy to see from the comfort of Vaerlon. Watch from behind trick mirrors as experienced animal tamers feed the fauna! Or visit the Bear Baiting Pit to watch them fight, and read the wonderful regen messages afterwards! If fishing's your game, go to the Aquarium to see the biggest ever skeleton of a sturgeon!

Well that should be a different post. In any case, animals should have more than just a fancy regen message. Specific animals should have their own special attacks and defences based on their species. For example a wild ox might charge at you with its horns, pinning you to a tree and leaving you defenseless for x rounds. A wounded possum (I think?) might play dead to fool players into leaving it alone. Skunks should be able to spray you. Gophers and moles should be able to retreat underground. And so on and so on.

For that matter, non-shapeshifters don't even have a real regen message, period. And no, sleep messages don't count. Why not add that first instead of dabbling with the animals?
