torches

Post by huntor »

I think it would be nice to add torches as nice newbie weapon that had slight fire damage or cold damage for nether torches and instead of being a lasting weapon once burnt out, would burn out completely reducing piles of burned out torches. Thought it would make since to be able to wield it in hand cause lit torch in inventory doesn't sound like fun :)

Why don't torches already burn completely out, anyway? I mean, why would we need torch stubs lying around?

I can see it now, newbies zooming around rat warehouse smiting rats with their super torches...

Thumbs up. Semidecent cheap newbie weapons sounds nice.

Wooden clubs with some elemental damage on them would be a nice choice to start with.

this is nice.. although how hard could they hit? problem is that still it is wood ( breaks easy) and it does burn out, so, why would anyone use it instead of the regimantal sword given by army ( small but should make more damage than a torch.)

Some quirks in idea, but i do like the general idea.

Of course if I like the newbie I get them the cold-damage maul from ratlings. But I think that something like that should be available for purchase.

Nice idea, wieldable torches are pretty common idea in most muds i have seen.

Come to think of it, it's not really logical to carry around a torch lit without it being wielded ;) Some people (Y*z) i have even seen carrying at least 500 lit torches with no problems.

I've heard that the person in question here has quite ...ahem...large..natural..body..cavities. This is ofcourse just a rumour and I cannot prove it.

many types of wood

Post by sraak »

well, we have yew, spruce, and many many more types of wood. not just one.
hard wooden weapons/torches would take long time to burn, hard to lit, would make more or different type damage, and so on.

implement those too. the code exists already, just some oo-coding is needed.
