Keeping track of old changes

Post by allanon »

Sometimes, important and/or very useful new things to know are mentioned over the game-info channel or the news channel. But, if you're not that active (read: come back after a year) you'll probably miss them because the last channel feature only goes for so many lines. And only the most major changes make it to the Announcements thread here on the forums, preserved forever.

It would be nice if there was a sticky post of all the game-info and news channel posts. It's probably not important to record "As X kills Y, the City of Z issues an official warning against A!" and stuff. But tweaks to commands, specific guilds, eq/monster behavior, etc. is fairly important stuff which ought to be better documented.

OR, alternatively, expand the last- channel logs for all non-player-usable channels (read: where only wizards/automated can post) to ~250 or something, for everyone. That would work just as well.

Making a separate automated channel "pkills" and maybe "reboots" would also reduce strain on game-info channel.
This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 160 character limit.

Maybe it would be good to allow "last news x" higher than 50 for everyone and not just for paying members?
