The thing with potions is that they have some hard to come by ingredients... powders on the other hand seem to be mostly herbs, which can be bought or found rather easily. So an emetic powder would be easier to make, but wouldn't give the alchemist experience. Could also give it a more significant chance to fail (i.e. this tastes horrible! You gag and spit out the powder before you can swallow it all. The remains are ruined.) Or some such thing....
It could even be a mixing recipe, available to Rangers as well... I didn't say it would be the most useful thing in the world, just an idea that popped into my head listening to Beregor talk about vomiting...
