How about a spell called 'psychic paralysis' (not has to be that name ofcourse) that can be casted to prevent mobs from casting off spells at you/your party.
So when you see 'you recognize the spell as an offensive spell'
you can cast psychic paralysis to negate it (or possibly prevent casting for a limited time, like that misty silence spell).
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
