Booths availability enhancement

Post by asventral »

I often see places with 1 or even more than 1 empty booth ... and some with stuff available ...
Would it be possible to make empty booth not available so commands (booth buy, booth list, booth view) would be directed to the first non empty one ?

That's not a real problem but would make things a bit easier.

Agree, look at the Merchant guild room, theres 22 booths 2 of em contain items. And usually you have to try all of the number before you find the right 2.

Intentsional or not, it still makes shopping a real pain in the rear end.
Its prolly more resource consuming, but could 'booth list' instead of writing 'There are no items for sale at this booth.' increase i and call 'booth i list', until a booth is found?
Its a rough cut, but its a start...

Another thing that could be nice would be using "Playername's booth" in stead of "booth 2" when using booth commands ... that could prevent some mistakes.

It'd be nice if empty booths just decayed after a given amount of time. (Let's say two weeks.) For a player to retrieve their booth, they would simply have to cast summon booth at the room they want to set up their wares at. This would help to reduce clutter around Vaerlon and that whole mess of stuff in the merchant guild *fear*.

Very good solution!

Or you could throw booths out of the window and make something better to replace ;)

Booths

Post by janeti »

Like a shop in the merchants guild (or in Vaerlon if the guild is going to be moved) where all merchants get a certain number of slots, as they would in their booths I believe. But since it's all in one place you don't have to spend all that time traipsing round town and checking each booth. And since it's a shop you could use the shop search routines on it.

You could also put copies in other town(s), if merchants can teleport booths I'm sure they can teleport goods, if you can ensure that nothing gets bought in two places simultaneously.

It would also stop the use of booths as summonable lockers.

As a further thought you could have the merchants as an open sub of artisans, and therefore allow artisans to sell things that they have made there (also limited slots - nobody can buy that many earrings). Or just have a separate craft shop.

Yep. If the player comes back, they just have to cast summon booth to retrieve it, rather simple.

Emptied booths should return to merchant guild in next reboot. Its not so hard to cast the spell again.

Already there are 20 empty booths in the merchants guild room, and maybe 3 booths that have something in em. So unless there will be arule that non-empty boots can be in the room, the problem would continue. Better outo dis-spell these empty booths.
