I think it would be nice if shadowdancer skill/spell efficiency was linked to how low their Vaerlon rep was. There are several advantages to doing this. First of all, dancers would have a method to improve the damage they deal in addition to devotion. Secondly, they'd have a very good reason to actively hunt within Vaerlon (and this incidentally improves player interaction because it gives folks more chances to defend). Thirdly, it fits very well with the theme of the guild and furthers the purposes of the dark gods in destroying Vaerlon.

I like the idea of low vaerlon rep helping shadow dancers. Perhaps letting low graemor rep help templars or air priests would encourage them to go to graemor and misbehave as well.

I have heard there is a way to lose a lot of vaerlon rep by an action that does not involve a successful kill. That might need to be changed to keep bad vaerlon rep from being too cheap.

The city defending rules would need an update. Currently its too easy to do all your regening in a safe spot and then tear through a city only to retreat to a safe spot. Maybe the ideal mechanism would be to tag players when they attack city NPCs and they would carry that mark for 10 minutes during which time they would be fair game for defenders. Heck, killing a marked player could even be +rep. The mark could also block their regen if they were in a safe room.

In particular, I like this idea because it lets players that want to be involved in pkilling take it upon themselves to make themselves vulnerable and leaves the rest of the players in a nice no player killing environment.

... The mark could also block their regen if they were in a safe room.
It could also prevent them to enter The Inn inside Vaerlon, so they couldn't leave game to avoid defenders wrath.

Do not mess with the inns of any city!

There often comes a time when you have to log out _SUPER_ fast. You start to run to atherton?

If the mark prevented you from going to an inn, you could always go linkdead. Sure, you'll get nethers if there is a reboot, but you probably deserve if for ducking your mark.

Alternatively the mark could still allow you in the Inn, but penalize you in some other way for going there.

you could allow into inn.. and as you said.. no regen when marked- you could carry your mark over a boot or over the logoff.. you'd still be marked (and perhaps for longer?) when you reenter?
