Beholders

Post by xerene »

Shouldn't beholders have an infravision eye? I think that would be reasonable.

What exactly would this infravision eye do?

Oh! Well than i don't understand why they already dont get a MAXIMAL in both light and dark, considerring that they are of size HUGE and the consist solely of a eye.

But another thig: theres only one eye right? So they don't get dual-focus (without 2 eyes seeing one point, you cant tell how far the point is.) How do they aim, to fire from their eye?

Simple. They have more than one eye.

Actually Beholders have many eyes. They have the one large central eye, then they have multiple eye stalks. The stalks are actually the magical parts that shoot the rays. They are also why beholders generally get more ring slots... one for each stalk.

Here is a picture of a beholder from the recent D&D monstrous manual. Beholder pic

oh! than i stand corrected. Anyway with that many eyes, they should get high vision in both dark and light. Maybe not the maximum, but close to it.
