wakeup command

Post by rotax »

I would think that one would be able to wake up another player. the player could still be sleepy, depending on how long the slept, or may become sleepy again sooner, and they could even be cranky :D

But seriously, I think this is a good idea (of course I do, otherwise I wouldnt have posted it).

Your wish is my command. I've written a "wake" command. I'll check with the wise wizards and by tomorrow it will be in either the game or the bit bucket.

wakeup

Post by janeti »

Whenever I type "wake" while sleeping (forgetting that I am sleeping and not resting) I get the message "You can only do this to other people" so are you sure it isn't already implimented.

That usually happens with new idealistic wizlings who have a notion that they can make a difference. Sadly enough, someone always teaches them how to idle properly and how make vague promises about something that the mortals want but what isn't going to be implemented...ever.

So let's just wait for this to happen :)

Ok, this command could be used to catch someone's attention, too:

currently:
wake suron
-> suron is not asleep

possibly:
wake suron (not asleep)
You try to catch Suron's attention (printed to user)
Solar tries to catch your attention! (printed to suron)<-- with words in random colours.
Solar tries to catch Suron's attention (printed to everyone else)

This way the screen could quickly be spammed full of different colours so that the lazy person lying in bed, several metres away from keyboard could see that someone wants to talk to him/her?

the bell, at least in my case, is just a "You hear a small bell ringing beside your ear" in gray, and no sound.
so either the bell could be in colour or then this could be implemented. This attention catching sounds good with the random colours and whatnot

Yep, but bell can't be chained, you have to wait some time to bell again.

Also, some people use headphones, which means that if they're not worn, you can't hear the sound. Or maybe the player has his/her stereos at full blast, playing Antti Tuisku or Crazy Frog... :(

Bell, if I'm right, uses some default OS sound (like windows). Since it's so annoying, some people might have turned it off.

I changed the bell command so it makes a giant, garish display on your screen. You should be able to see it from across a room.
