Meat disposal

Post by etadan »

Some way to dispose of meat without having to go to city or some other place with trashcan(piles of rotten meat in ow is bad, m'kay). Like dig a hole and put it all in -> fertilizer? Digging regular holes in 'out of sigh, out of mind' manner is unacceptable imo.
Just don't downtune carving.

saccing meat isn't really an option, if you're killing bears and alligators, these drop really heavy meat and lots of it, if you're not near vaerlon then the area is just really messy

i had this idea of burning junk on the campfire, but there's so many ideas already submitted which haven't been looked at, and wizzes are busy with more important stuff

i have a client alias which digs a hole > get all to hole > cover hole, works pretty good, but you don't get df for it like with trashcans

maybe if they made it so that skin/carve were too different skins.

>skin corpse
You skin the corpse and succeed in removing a skin.
>look
Room Description
The frosty corpse of Lemi (skinned)
Exits
>carve corpse
You carve the corpse and succeed in removing a chunk of meat.
>dig grave
You get the point.

You need to run to an altar to sacrifice, and that can be prety far.

Yeah, small burining flesh realy nice Iluth, would you like to stain in the area with such smell? I don't think animals would like it either.
I don't realy like the idea of digging holes for trash, since the trash is still there, only out of sigh.

then you've posed a problem which has no solution etadan ;)

you can't sacrifice, and the burning smell of meat would upset the animal, burying it doesn't seem to be enough because it's merely out of sight

you seem pretty focused on keeping things realistic, yet the only solution to this problem on your terms would be a "destruct" command for players

well, making mounts(pets wanted) eat more might be good for it, or 'floating trashcan' spell :)

Lots of the mounts don't/wouldn't eat meat.

*Nodnod*, but some do. And imo they don't eat enough(what is it these days, 2-4 rw hours to get the from full to 'not hungry but could swallow something'. thirst is another thing that they rarely suffer from). Players could be little more hungry too.

There was problem with mounts starving too fast and now there seems to be problem that they starve too slowly :P

Well, don't make them starve faster, but instead make them try eating all the time, even if they just taking one bite, meat will be destroyed. Imo more mounts die because of boot than starvation. floating trashcan(or some chrono spell to put things in void) might be neat.

second this

or other option is to have a variable included into skin command, so you can switch carving OFF or ON when skinning.. disposal of all that meat sometimes is just so annoying...

Players certainly don't need to be made to eat more.

My B'rogh gets from full to hungry! in 20 minutes sometimes it seems.

Just drag me along, and i'll gladly eat everything you carve up. Cooked or not :)
