The following idea might bring some fun to the shifters guild.
As you know, each guild has a totem. One specializes in an animal form by honoring the totem. Let's extend this thing. Shifters might decorate the totem with animal skins they acquire. The animal spirits get happy and give the player some help: the player receives a bonus say to self-control and control of the inner beast. The bonus reduces with time unless the player adds more skins. Now the competition idea: The players, who specialize in the form which has the totem with the highest level of "decoration" receive the double bonuses. It should be of course a command to see the current status.
What do you think?

Animal spirits would be happy to have more of their kin killed?
It would make more sense if you'd decorate the animal totem with humanoid skins ( those ...planet killers!).
What you are suggesting resembles the way shadowdancers get their guild devotion but they do it because it's their job to spread death and terror.
Basicaly, just a crazy thought of mine, anything that would in any way increase one's exp rate is veeery hard to justify.
Animal spirits would be happy to have more of their kin killed?
Well.. wolves kill rabbits and what? The wolf spirit wont be happy? If you are so picky lets make that spirits are not happy to get a skin of an animal belonging to the same form as the totem.
...anything that would in any way increase one's exp rate is veeery hard to justify.
If we think along this line, then why to add say new areas to the game? people might get higher exp rates there!
I am just propose more fun in competition
