If an elder warrior wishes to master the piercing weapons ultimately, then he must learn the skill 'pierce', and masters of that skill are known to be the experts of the short blades, causing fear to their opponents merely with their reputation. Pierce allows you to use the weapons even more effectively in combat, and score harder hits, and of course more often.
