As long as you read some room texts *somewhere* and explore; getting into certain secret places isn't that hard.
And for shops, many people don't use "certain place" because it costs more as they give you less money for items. I think that you can wait for day, too, for selling items.. if not Atherton is open 24/7
I agree that the blackmarket is (imho) very unfair to get into, I mean everyone knows where the entrence is but not how to get into it an the "dark man" is next to impossible to find, I see "dark" men running around all the time but can never interact with them, so clearly they are not him an as far as I know there is no other way in to the market.

Not realy that slim, when he was around, he came to Ereldon quite often, and he does say something that should provoke newbies to talk to him. Only difficulty is to associate the password with the black market, but again exploring the place where party leaders go at nights...
Imo, in before times, everyone knew the way by the time they reached level 10.

Well, maybe we just need to make tutorial forced, and throw em in some sort of prison at the begining.. for tax evasion ,for not paying entrance fee, etc, and make them learn, how to look for secrets and communicate with npcs, in order to get out.. hmm, maybe only if they refuse to take tutorial? :)

Not to be rude but I actually do explore a lot, I find it hard to join or start a party so find myself running around on me own most often. Between that an the fact vet players are always telling noobs to search an explore more, or my personal favorite "figure it out", some things I myself just can't figure out on my own. As for the dark man, I don't think he is around anymore cause I have asked around with the NPCs an so far all I can find out is where he is spost to be hanging around most of the time (not goin to say where so I don't get in trouble) but I can spend hours there an never have him come by.
the main reason that no one has told you what the password is, is that the dark man mentions that if you tell anyone what it is, you may get nuked by a wizard. talk to them about it, maybe they will give it to you, possibly in exchange of paying a months game time for the specific wizard

Wizard nuke is not the reason for people not telling you their password. If you try to get in with a pass you get from someone else and have yourself not found the dark man yet, then the guard tells you somethig like this: 'Pah! That is not your password. Go look for something something...' So it seems either everyone gets a unique password or you must get the same pass from that dark man in order to get into the invited list.
Praised be the god of fire, may he bless me and my dark brethren with the warmth, and save me from the light of hes holy flames.
