This skill is for creating a regenerative vortex, a small and quite powerless pathway from the plane of magic to near the caster. It has regenerative powers and will stay for a short time, though it doesn't tolerate other high-energy objects near it, like campfires and such. The healing effect is much greater on Sorcerers.
