The cutting edges of metal tools must be sharpened regularly to cut well. A sharp tool is less tiring to use and does a better job. Some tools are fairly easy to sharpen, some are fiendishly difficult to sharpen well. A master sharpener can do the job quickly while using up a minimum of the metal so the tool lasts longer.
