Knowledge in this skill allows a shapeshifter to shapeshift into a form of a bird by tampering his inner beast into bird's form and then using it's power to change his mortal form. The better one is in this skill the more he is like a real bird when he shapeshifts and this of course gives him more potential when using his new form for example in a combat. It doesn't really help if you can merely turn your nose into a tiny beak and try to poke your opponent with it.
