Cuts and scratches gained from combat often don't kill you immediately but the bleeding and diseases that the open wounds may catch can bring down even the greatest of beings over time. Thus it is extremely important to tend those wounds before they become life-threathening. Common folks usually try to bind them and use herbal salves to ail the healing process but some use hot metal to cauterize the wound and seal the bleeding immediately, especially those who revere fire. This naturally means that choice of healing method for the fire priests is also cauterization and they have made an art from it and tend almost all of their wounds with some kind of fire. Many of the most battle-hardened priests are crisscrossed with old scars which they wear proudly as symbols of prestige to be shown. Learning the best ways to tend wounds with fire also teaches you about the opposite way, harming beings with fire, for example if you happen to have a burning spear.
