Leatherworking allows you to make pieces of armour from skins you have acquired by skinning dead animals and other creatures. You need a knife or a dagger to successfully do anything besides estimating. You might also have to combine a few pieces of skin to get a large enough piece. To create reinforced armour such as ring mail, scale mail, brigadine, studded and bezainted you will need to have the metal reinforcement in your possession which is created by smiths. For reinforced armour the size of the armour created will depend on the size of the reinforcing material. The value of the armour made will depend on the value of the skin (humanoid skins are known to be worthless), the reinforcement material if any and its size and toughness. Your knife, dexterity, wisdom, training in leatherworking, craftsmanship and fine hand coordination, and the type of armour you are making will also play a big role. The syntax:

'use leatherworking at combine <skin1> and <skin2>'
'use leatherworking at make <item> from <skin>'
'use leatherworking at make <item> from <skin> for <race>'
'use leatherworking at make <item> from <skin> using <reinf ob>'
'use leatherworking at estimate <skin> for <item>'
'use leatherworking at estimate <skin> for <item> using <reinf ob>

The <item> is what you would like to make, this includes the list in 'help armour types' plus clothes and containers eg. sack.

If you want to make an armour which is reinforced such as those listed above you put this in the item as well.

If you want to make the armour to fit on a member of another race, you can do it by adding the race as the final argument, this only works for non-reinforced armours however. You can also make bags and sacks with this skill, or check if the skin is large enough to be used in making the armour.

As well as armours you can also make the following objects: ammo pouch, arrow case, bag, cross scabbard, dagger bandolier, design case, huge scabbard, quiver, quiver carrier, sack, sling, tent, twin scabbard, vial container and wallet.
