Serpent form of Gaesati shapeshifters is probably the most weakest of all forms and gets hurt more easily than others. This is why many serpent shapeshifters sought for more protection and invented this spell. By strengthening and thickening their natural scales they achieved all protection they needed. As a side effect they noticed that lava serpent's natural protection against heat and fire got even better.
