This is a documentation about traps in Icesus.

Hunting Traps
=============

Rope trap:
The rope trap is designed is used to catch prey unharmed. It is a simple
trap very quick to set up and replace and causes the animal to become
disorientated and helpless. You need a rope to build this trap and a
nearby tree. Very small animals are not able to set this trap off and
medium to large animals have a tendancy to break the tree and hence the
  trap.

Snare trap:
The snare trap is very similar to the rope trap and has the same effect,
however you need a snare as well. What is the point of a snare trap? The
snare trap has a better design than the rope trap and therefore is more
likely to catch an animal. The trap does take a little bit more time to
make however. Very light animals are not able to set this trap off and
medium to large animals have a tendancy to break the tree and hence the
  trap.

Iron trap:
The iron trap is a very deadly device that is set up quickly and not only
traps the animal but delivers damage to the animal, which is sometimes fatal. This
device is quick to prepare and deals a substantial amount of damage if
placed with skill. You need an iron trap to build this trap, have some
skill in trapping and be scrawny in strength. Light animals are not able
to set this trap off and medium animals are able to wrench the trap off.

Pit trap:
The pit trap is a pit in the ground covered by camouflage. Very simple
in design but effective. It takes quite some time to build and doesn't
deliver hardly any damage compared to the iron trap but this trap can
be reset very easily and if placed in a less traveled area can last for
a very long time. You need a shovel to build this trap and a little bit
of skill in trapping. Light animals don't cause the pit to collapse and
large sized animals are able to walk out without too much effort and of
course birds can just fly out.

Spiked pit trap:
This is almost exactly the same to the pit trap except it has nasty
spikes down the bottom of the pit. These spikes are made out of wood so
the spiked pit trap can only made near trees. It doesn't deliver as much
damage as the iron trap and takes a long time to build however the
quality of the trap is unsurpassed making it very hard to detect. You
need a bit of skill in trapping and a shovel to build this trap. Light
animals don't cause the pit to collapse and large sized animals are able
to walk out without too much effort and of course birds can just fly out.

Steel trap
The steel trap like its cousin is a extremely deadly to its prey and
to its user if they are not careful. The trap takes a little bit of time
to setup but it packs a powerful punch. Medium weight animals set it off
up till quite heavy animals. Anything bigger though is able to wrench it
off with pure strength. You need some skill in trapping to deploy this,
the trap itself and be slightly weak in strength.

Spike trap
The spike trap is a simple device in plain sight. It requires a chunk of
meat, a plank of wood, a knife or dagger, a shovel, reasonable amount of
skill in trapping and wood carving wouldn't hurt either. What do you do with
all these ingredients? You build sharp stakes, one central one with the
meat on top and several others on an angle and you have yourself one heck
of a lure for carnivorous animals.

Log trap
The log trap requires the most amount of skill in trapping, this is not
due to its ability to trap animals but to its logistic nature of the trap
in understanding pulleys. You need a log, obviously, a rope, you need to
be brawny in strength. The nature of the trap is simple, get a big log
set a meat lure, the carnivorous animal comes in, big log falls on animal.

-Tips
The trapping skill is the primary skill affecting both the quality of
your trap and the damage if this is applicable. Camouflaging your trap
is also important in deceiving the animal and a sound knowledge in animal
lore also helps in determining the best way in dealing damage to the
animal. A chunk of meat may tip the balance in catching your prey as
well. Rangers also have certain masteries that benefit them. Detecting
traps requires the skill of detect traps and some skill in trapping to
understand the workings of traps. Also having expertise in the individual
trap increases your efficiency and the quality of your trap building.

NOTE: In a party you have to be following for you to gain the benefit of
a party member showing you the trap!

Fishing Traps
=============

Fish trap:
The fish trap is a very efficient means of catching fish and improving
your trapping skills in doing so. This is a nice way to earn a bit of
exp on the side as well.

Fish net trap:
The fish net trap is a lot more expensive than the fish trap and requires
a high level of skill in fishing to be able to set it. However you do
not need to reset it everytime you catch something and is of better
  quality to the fish trap.

Offensive Traps
===============

Offensive traps are not designed for use in hunting but more in
assassinations and warfare. They are only available to certain guilds and
are shrouded in secrecy. NOTE: When using offensive traps you are
responsible for your trap. This means if you set a trap at a south gate
of Vaerlon and it sets off at a player, that player has every right to
retaliate. If it kills another player outside Graemor that player has
every right to lodge an issue and the issue will go in the favour of
the victim. All traps are logged so there will be no uncertainty. With power
comes responsibility, if you abuse this responsibility you WILL be punished.
