This skill can be used without having any training in it.

A fighting technique used mostly by rangers and other two-weapon specialists. With this maneuver one whirls one's weapons in the air in circular patterns. Often the weapons move so quickly that the opponent cannot follow both of the weapons and the attacker can get a devastating blow through. This maneuver can also be used defensively. The pattern in which the weapons are moved determines the effectiveness of this maneuver. The maneuver can be a direct attack pattern, or a defensive pattern. Attack patterns are designed to open gaps for your weapons to slip through, defensive patterns on the other hand are used for longer lasting maneuvers that improve one's defenses in order to attempt a counter strike. The skills 'twin weapons', 'defensive patterns', 'offensive patterns' and 'bladesinging' improve your performance with this maneuver, as does 'improvised combinations'. Note that shields are not considered weapons in this case, and that fast weapons are more effective than slow ones. A list of weapon moving patterns follows. Only rangers are taught multiple patterns, others will only be able to use the 'cross' pattern.

Cross - a simple attack pattern Cat stroke - a fairly simple attack pattern Falling seeds - a moderately difficult defensive pattern. Double cross - a difficult attack pattern Diamond lunge - a difficult defensive pattern Singing blades - an extremely difficult defensive pattern

Examples:

'battle -m whirling blades at orc with double cross'.
'use whirling blades at with cat stroke'.

Rangers can also select a default pattern to use, see the help provided with the guild item for details.

NOTE: You can use this maneuver with only a single weapon, but with reduced effectiveness.
