Introduction

Magic, although very restricted in the Valkor after the wars, still thrives in one place of the capital of Valkor. Inside the large tower in the middle of the city of Vaerlon is located the guild of mages who have promised to protect the city against its enemies but who are also forced to limit their spells to not so destructive ones. Once the magic was free but dwarves of Vaerlon were afraid of offensive magic and they decided to ban the most ultimate ways of offensive magic. Thus they are only able to teach the basics of magic inside their tower due the magical restrictions that don't allow them to teach more. Even though the offensive magic was restricted there are still many who are expert in the offensive magic. Source to this knowledge is taught inside the Ring, small remote island in the far south.

Nobody but older mages know how to enter it as it is surrounded by huge mountains that aren't climbable. On that island is rumored to be located many different places that teach different aspects of offensive magic. One of them being the arcane sanctuary of knowledge where one can learn more destructive offensive spells than those of taught at the mage guild in Vaerlon. Once mastered those spells one can become a true seer of arcane wrath who control the most destructive spells known in the valley.

Mages are also rumored to have four different schools which teach different types of offensive spells. These four are corrosion experts, lightning experts, brothers of heat and chill touch association. They teach the ultimate ways to handle magic, ice, acid, lightning and fire together in offensive means. The mages aren't fully devoted in destructive spells as they also gain knowledge about many miscellaneous spells that help them to survive in wilderness and also in battle.

The tower of mages is located on the middle of the city of Vaerlon.

Mages of Valkor

The Mages of Valkor teach the basic ways of using magic in everyday life and combat. The guild doesn't teach basic cantrips, but more useful things such as how to use magic to defend yourself in combat.

Elementalists

Elementalists are masters of four magic types that the mages possess: fire, acid, cold and lightning magic. They teach the ultimate ways to handle these magics in offensive means. They were formed after Chill Touch Association, Lightning Experts, Brothers of Heat and Corrosion Experts decided to band together and unify their teachings.

This guild teaches the ultimate ways of forming offensive elements from pure magic. The members hold the secrets of mages and the spells developed during countless number of years.

The seers of arcane wrath study the most destructive spells ever developed. They will master the offensive spells used by the War Mages, including the legendary Tornado.

Gathering of warmages

Warmages are mages who regularly find themselves in combat and not in their study buried under mountain of dusty tomes. When you abandon safe scholarly life and enter the battlefields you need to learn ways to survive or find yourself dying with a sword sticking through your guts.

Mage masteries

Upon joining the Mages of Valkor guild, you receive a guilditem which describes as cloth brown cloak decorated with strange runes <intense green glow>


The cloak is made of brown cloth, and it has small runes written on it. Some runes on it don't seem to make any
sense, but you recognize the words 'revenge' and 'island' on it.
To check how well you have mastered the art of being a mage type "mage_masteries".
It looks like it would cover your cloak slot.

suppress magic flow

The suppress magic flow mastery helps caster to minimize the amount of spellpoints used to cast a spell. Also, with greater mastery the frequency of suppression is greater. Suppressing magic flow also reduces the change of the fatal effects when fumbling a spell.

secrets of <damagetype>

The secrets of <damagetype> mastery adds additional powers of the damagetype when casting an offensive spell of the damagetype. With secrets of fire the spell might make the opponent catch fire that will burn him over time. With secrets of acid the spell might corrode the opponent stunning him. With secrets of cold the spell might slow down the opponent or even freeze them for a period of time. With secrets of lightning the spell might summon a sphere of lightning which then jolts the opponents at the area with frequent electricity.

<spelltype> swarm

Swarming mastery sometimes makes the projectile type offensive spells to copy themselves. This fearsome ability to cast multiple projectiles with one incantation is a great tool for mages in battle. With greater mastery the frequency and number of multiple projectiles increases.

Area spell mastery.

Ameliorative enchantment

non-offensive spell mastery. It can double the amount of mirror images you conjure and allows you to cast it in combat with high enough mastery. Sometimes it makes elementalist's armor absorb all incoming damage. Whenever you use a spell impulse you also do an instant elemental blast.

Secondary Guild

Practitioners of magic

People able to perform any kind of magic are usually either feared, revered or respected in all communities and tribes in the whole valley. Thus many seek guidance in this field to achieve their goals. Many also have found that they are at least somewhat proficient in spell casting but haven't joined Mages of Valkor or any other major guild teaching spell casters. Other just seek to enhance their performance in their own tasks through magical means that they cannot otherwise acquire. Many look for old Priests of Magic, current Mages of Valkor and the mages living in The Ring, to help them in this and they have agreed to teach talented people magic to some degree.
